As a professional dancer, Richard Giorla was passionate about dance. But after sustaining a career-altering injury 10 years ago, something had to change. Richard sought a form of exercise he could do without impact and injury.

When he discovered a studio that offered ballet-based exercise, he was hooked. And when the owner of the studio went bankrupt and put the studio up for sale, Richard knew fate was calling.

“I saw this as an opportunity,” he said.

So in 2001, he took that passion for dance and created what today is Cardio Barre.

Opportunity for Growth

The original studio held only 17 people. Now, after Richard bought four businesses next to each other totaling 4,000 square feet, his flagship location now holds 65 students. But Richard didn’t stop there. He decided to franchise his concept, and now has 14 franchises in Los Angeles, as well as a few franchises out of state.

As for the future, Richard is optimistic: “I’m ready to take this worldwide.”

The Three Keys to Successful Business

Richard says that there are three things to look for in a business:

  1. Product
  2. Customer service
  3. Pricing
