CorpNet is lucky to have a team of hard-working, talented and dedicated staff who help our customers start a business and manage their business filings. One of the team members we’d like to spotlight is Stephanie Turner, our Business Formations Specialist.
Stephanie Turner earned her B.A. degree in Communication Studies from California State University of Sacramento. She is a former competitive cheer coach, so she’s lots of fun to work with and is great at keeping everyone’s spirits up. She has also worked as a former server/trainer at Chili’s Bar and Grill, so Stephanie knows how to make our customers feel comfortable and welcome when they’re working with CorpNet to navigate the ins and outs of incorporating a company.
Stephanie has worked for CorpNet in Client Relations/Sales for a year and a half. She helps customers with Free Business Consultations and she also helps place orders when customers are ready to buy an incorporation package or other services from CorpNet.
“One of the things I love most about working at CorpNet is that we are a smaller company and so you get to know your co-workers on a more personal level,” said Stephanie. “Our business is all about building relationships with customers and colleagues.”
Stephanie has been pleasantly surprised by how much she’s learned about starting a business by working at CorpNet. “I always thought you had to have a lawyer to incorporate or form an LLC, but now I know that this is not necessarily true,” said Stephanie. “My parents started a company 10 years ago and paid way too much to have a lawyer do the exact same thing we do.”
When asked what is the biggest advantage for customers who choose to use CorpNet’s online incorporation service, Stephanie said that the difference is simple: service.
“I think the number one thing that sets us apart from our competitors is our customer service,” said Stephanie. “I have several clients where we are on a first name basis, and they know if they have any questions they can call or e-mail me and I will be there to assist them with their inquiries. We build a relationship with our clients, so that they know they don’t have to go into starting a business alone.”
The weirdest, craziest story that Stephanie remembers from her time working at CorpNet is when she tried to do something special for decorating the office for the holidays.
“I was in charge of decorating the office for the holidays, and I like to consider myself to be creative and so I wanted to do more than string up some lights,” said Stephanie. “I made tons of paper snowflakes and hung them from the ceiling all throughout the office with tape and ribbon. Unfortunately, the tape didn’t stick as well as I thought and on a Sunday night, Phil and Nellie received a call from our security alarm company that the building’s alarm had been triggered by the motion detector. Phil raced down to the office and the police were already there. They were baffled because the door was locked, there was no sign of a break-in, and no windows had been tampered with. It wasn’t until they found one of my snowflakes on the floor, when they realized that it was my fallen snowflake decoration that set off the alarm. The next day I had to take the snowflakes down.”
Despite Stephanie’s ill-fated holiday decorations, she still loves to nurture her creative side. “If I was going to start a business of my own, I would have a café or bakery specializing in decorative cupcakes and sandwiches,” said Stephanie. “Or I would be a wedding planner.”
Stephanie has family roots in entrepreneurship, just like CorpNet’s CEO Nellie Akalp. “I have several family members who have started their own businesses,” said Stephanie. “Some of the businesses have worked out, others haven’t. The number one thing all of them have in common is despite the stress and bills, they were all so proud and happy that they at least tried to make their dream come true, rather than wonder what if. The most inspiring thing to me from working at CorpNet is seeing real people taking risks to pursue their dreams.”
Stephanie also said that she loves working with CorpNet CEO Nellie Akalp. “You could say Nellie treats me like a daughter,” said Stephanie. “She pushes me to be the best I can be, praises me when I do my job well, and drives me crazy the way only a mother can. But at the end of the day, I know she loves me and I love her.”
CorpNet is a small company driven by love – love for our customers, love for entrepreneurship, and love of doing a job well. Thank you, Stephanie Turner, for everything that you do to help CorpNet customers each day.
